Maria DiPietro and Nancy Stack, Suffolk University alumnae leaders in the spheres of international business operations and complex project management, have been elected to the University’s Board of Trustees.
DiPietro, vice president for global operations at General Electric, will serve as a charter trustee. Stack, a program manager who coordinated and facilitated many public and nonprofit developments, will be an alumni trustee representing the College of Arts & Sciences. The board confirmed the new members on Dec. 9.
“The board is thrilled to welcome these successful and accomplished trustees home to Suffolk, where their academic experience prepared them for exciting professional careers,” said Suffolk Board Chair Robert C. Lamb, Jr. “Maria DiPietro earned two degrees at Suffolk’s Sawyer Business School, where her twin brother, Michael DiPietro, serves on the Alumni Board. Theirs is a true Suffolk family, as three DiPietro brothers hold one or more Suffolk degrees. And Nancy Stack not only has played a significant role in major state, federal and institutional projects in and beyond Greater Boston, she also has taken the time to support Suffolk and its students by serving on the College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board for many years.”
Acting President Marisa Kelly said: “These two women recognize Suffolk’s importance in Boston and beyond, and I am eager to work with them as they bring new expertise and perspectives to the Board of Trustees and work to further strengthen Suffolk University.”
About Maria DiPietro
Maria DiPietro earned a BS in Business Administration and an MBA from Suffolk’s Business School. In 25 years with General Electric she has held many senior leadership positions and is a GE company officer. Until last year, DiPietro was located in London, where she was responsible for leading a Europe-wide simplification program to optimize GE’s competitiveness in European markets. She has now returned to the United States and is based in Norwalk, Conn., leading one of GE’s global shared-service functions. Previously DiPietro served as chief operations, technology and quality leader for GE Capital’s EMEA business operations and has served as vice president for the London City Women’s Network. She also was co-chair for the GE Women’s Network and remains an active board member.
About Nancy Stack
Nancy Stack earned an MS in adult and organizational learning from Suffolk University and also holds a master’s degree in city planning and a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She is a program manager for Pinck & Co. Inc., where she was involved in coordinating the evaluation process for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s review of license applications. This entails responsibilities that range from coordinating technical consultants to providing technical expertise on environmental permitting and historic preservation. Previous roles in projects for various firms include: serving on the program management/construction management team for the MBTA’s Green Line Extension project; developing workforce development action plans for federal transportation agencies; providing technical consultant management services to Harvard’s Allston Development Group’s infrastructure program; and developing an award-winning reuse concept plan for a bridge project in Ohio. In service to her alma mater, Stack has served as vice president of the College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board.
