Professor Richard Torrisi Appointed to Fulbright Review Board
The Boston Music Theatre Project's Crossing Brooklyn has its New York professional debut this month.
The musical, originally titled Begin Again, was developed in residence at Suffolk University by Theatre Department Chair Marilyn Plotkins. It will premiere at the Transport Group Oct. 19 - Nov. 18, 2007.
Crossing Brooklyn is a modern love story set in New York City. It concerns a young couple, dedicated public school teachers full of hopes and dreams, before the events of September 11 tear their world apart. The two struggle to find their way back to each other, and the lessons they learn, through the children they meet, will change them forever.
Crossing Brooklyn was first developed with composer Jenny Giering and librettist Laura Harrington with director Marilyn Plotkins in two fall residencies at Suffolk as part of the Boston Music Theatre Project. The workshop production premiered with a Suffolk student ensemble in the Studio Theatre in spring 2006.
