Debate on State Ballot Question 1

Suffolk, NBC10 Boston, and necn present a live broadcast of a discussion about nurse staffing levels.

Suffolk University, in partnership with NBC10 Boston and necn, will present a debate surrounding the controversial Massachusetts ballot question that would dictate nurse-to-patient staffing ratios.

"Question 1: The Nurse Staffing Debate" will be broadcast live on the two stations from 7-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the Modern Theatre.

NBC10 Boston anchor Shannon Mulaire will serve as moderator with representatives from both sides of the question discussing the potential care limits, patient pushbacks, nurses concerns, costs, and more associated with the proposal.

Donna Kelly-Williams, president of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, will speak for the initiative and Karen Moore, RN, senior vice president of clinical operations, chief nursing officer for Lawrence General Hospital, will take the opposing view.

The debate is co-sponsored by Suffolk University's Ford Hall Forum.

Telemundo Boston will air the recorded debate in a half-hour special "Pregunta 1: El debate del personal de Enfermería" at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28.
