Six New Leaders Join Suffolk University Board

New trustees bring diverse experience, backgrounds, and a shared commitment to Suffolk’s mission

Suffolk University announced the election of six new trustees—experienced business and community-focused leaders with a deep commitment to Suffolk’s access and opportunity mission and a record of championing greater equity and inclusion.

Suffolk’s newest trustees are outstanding leaders in business, financial services, healthcare, community development, the law, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). They bring extensive experience growing complex organizations and building high-performance teams. They are mentors and community and alumni leaders who are strong supporters of Suffolk and other mission-driven organizations. And they are working, in different ways, to create more inclusive organizations and workplaces and to empower underserved populations, women, students, and others.

The four new charter trustees and two new alumni trustees are:

  • Tamela E. Bailey, JD ’04, alumni trustee representing Suffolk University Law School. As senior counsel II on National Grid’s corporate and commercial legal team, she advises clients on and negotiates complex transactions and projects, and develops strategies and solutions to help them achieve business objectives.
  • Danny Best, charter trustee, vice president for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and veteran human resources leader in technology, healthcare, and financial services.
  • Patrick Coelho, BSBA ’11, alumni trustee representing the Sawyer Business School. He is head of international for Scooter’s Coffee, and a senior executive with a proven track record of leading high-performance teams at iconic restaurant companies.
  • Joseph Delisi, BA ’04, JD ’10, charter trustee, a partner with the Dunn and Dunn law firm, who concentrates his legal practice in the defense of healthcare professionals and facilities throughout the Northeast.
  • Manny Lopes, HDHL ’22, charter trustee, an advocate for greater access and equity in healthcare, and executive vice president for public markets and government relations for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
  • Jane Mancini, BSJ ’81, charter trustee, BNY Mellon’s global head of business development, Securities Services and Digital, where she leads business development globally for the bank’s largest segment, comprising asset servicing, corporate trust, and depositary receipts businesses.

Additionally, Trustee Bevilton E.J. Morris, MBA, ’95, has been re-elected to a second five-year term as a charter trustee. Serving on the board since 2018, Morris is a leader in people focused on finance transformation strategy, organization strategy, and technology enablement arenas, with more than 25-plus years of cross-industry experience helping international clients transform and innovate to maintain a competitive edge.

“All of these trustees are passionate about the importance of Suffolk’s mission and President Marisa Kelly’s inaugural promise of ensuring that Suffolk continues to serve as a powerful force for good,” said Bob Lamb, chair of the Suffolk University Board of Trustees. “They are tested and successful leaders who have committed to giving back to Suffolk. I am excited about the diversity of skills, experiences, and viewpoints they will bring to the work of the board.”

Said Suffolk University President Marisa Kelly, “This new class of trustees brings an incredible diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds to the board, and a great enthusiasm for our mission. I look forward to working closely with these and all of our trustees as we continue to advance this University’s essential mission."
