Over the past two academic years, more than 300 Sawyer Business School undergraduate and graduate students have worked on Celtics-related projects.

For the past two years, the Sawyer Business School has been a partner of the 18-time World Champion Boston Celtics. Students have toured the impressive Celtics headquarters just a few blocks from campus. They’ve worked on challenges and opportunities relating to the Celtics’ business that focus on growing a team’s reach with fans, potential business partners, and in the community. And they’ve given presentations to executives from the Celtics and their business partners.

That partnership with the Celtics recently received international recognition. In fact, the Sawyer Business School was one of 26 schools worldwide—one of only nine schools in the US—that this year received an “Innovations That Inspire” award from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the governing body that awards accreditation to business schools around the world. In their announcement, AACSB pointed out that “[the] innovative partnership plays a critical role in creating experiential curriculum elements that simultaneously educate learners and make them competitive candidates for employment in the industry.” The annual program recognizes institutions from around the world that serve as champions of change in business education.

“We are thrilled that our rewarding work with the Boston Celtics has been recognized by AACSB,” said Amy Zeng, dean of the Sawyer Business School. “We’re also excited to continue the partnership with this incredible organization, one that has given our students very powerful immersive learning opportunities and introduced them to the business of professional basketball.”
