SBS welcomes three new professors and a new executive in residence

Yuming He

Assistant Professor, Information Systems & Operations Management

Professor He’s research interests focus on leveraging business intelligence tools and big data technologies to generate business value; addressing cybersecurity challenges; and exploring the interplay between human decision-making and AI disruptions. His work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Communications of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Information Systems Education, Systems Research and Behavioral Science, Journal of Enterprise Information Management, and Behaviour & Information Technology. Professor He has a PhD and an MS from Old Dominion University, and a BE from Shanghai University.

Yukai Huang

Yukai Huang

Assistant Professor, Information Systems & Operations Management

Professor Huang’s research interests lie in revenue management, dynamic resource allocation, online assortment optimization, and approximate algorithms. His work focuses on developing innovative solutions and frameworks that address complex challenges in these areas, with the aim of advancing both theoretical understanding and practical applications. He has a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis; an MA from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; and a BA from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Sameed Babar Khan

Sameed Babar Khan

Assistant Professor, Marketing

Professor Khan’s primary research interest is in language in the marketplace. Using multiple methods—including natural language processing techniques and experiments—he studies consumer and company language in varied contexts. He has presented his research at the ACR, SCP, and AMA conferences. A native of Lahore, Pakistan, Professor Khan has experience in the education and healthcare sectors, having worked as a product manager at an ed-tech nonprofit and a health-tech startup, and as a consultant for the Government of Punjab’s Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department. He has a PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell; as well as an MBA and BS from Lahore University of Management Sciences.

Aykut Firat

Aykut Firat

Executive in Residence, Information Systems & Operations Management

Professor Firat specializes in AI innovation, team building, and delivering cutting-edge solutions using generative AI. He has spearheaded the development of advanced technologies, including AI-driven search engines, conversational chatbots powered by fine-tuned large language models (LLMs), and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems to enhance user query handling. He also leads the Turkish LLM development project T3-AI, driving strategic direction and performance improvements in open-source models. Additionally, Professor Firat has overseen the creation of tools like smart writing assistants, automated content moderation, and AI-driven employee listening solutions. He has a PhD from MIT Sloan School of Management, an MS from Miami University, and a BS from Boğaziçi University.
