Suffolk University’s Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program has earned accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).

The MHA is a broad-based degree that covers key issues in healthcare, including innovation, leadership and ethics, organizational behavior, quality and patient safety, financial management, operations, human resources management, marketing, and healthcare law and policy.

“CAHME accreditation is considered the gold standard for MHA and other programs in healthcare management,” said Richard Gregg, director of the Sawyer Business School’s programs in healthcare administration and chair of the Healthcare Administration Department. “The CAHME accreditation attests to the scope, quality and continuous quality improvement of our MHA program.”

The CAHME accreditation of the MHA program is based on factors that include:

• Graduates' employment in the competitive healthcare market.
• Dynamic, competency-based curriculum that focuses on key requirements for students in healthcare leadership and management
• Special features such as internships, a healthcare mentor program and healthcare travel seminars in London
• Experienced faculty members who combine the theory and practice of healthcare administration
• Mission, vision and values that put students first
• Performance on a wide range of educational and other goals

Graduates who earned their MHA degrees in 2015 report a 100 percent employment rate; more than 90 percent were working in a relevant job within three months of graduation. Employers include Partners Healthcare System, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Tufts Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Children’s Hospital, Lahey Health, Steward Health Care System, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, athenahealth, Bowdoin Street Health Center, Whittier Street Health Center, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

Suffolk's MHA program is one of 98 healthcare management programs nationwide to be accredited by CAHME and one of 59 MHA-specific programs. Suffolk’s is the only MHA program among six CAHME-accredited healthcare management programs in New England.
