Getting Started

  • Step 1: Visit Suffolk University's Admitted Student Community.
  • Step 2: Enter the email address you used on the Common App.
  • Step 3: Look for an email with a verification link; click the link to begin creating an account.
  • Step 4: Create your profile, and you’re in!

Define Your Interests, Discover New Friends

Your interests—where you’re from, what you’re into, what you want out of Suffolk and of life—are what make you so unique! Share yours and find new friends who have them too.

  • Go to your profile
    Look for your profile icon or a Profile tab. In some versions, you’ll find the edit option in the main dashboard or by clicking on your name
  • Edit your profile
    Find the Edit Profile button or a similar one. You should see sections to fill in with information about yourself
  • Add your interests
    You can choose from a wide range of categories like sports, hobbies, and life experiences. Nearpeer offers 2,000+ options. Select as many as you like!
  • Save your changes
    Hit Save. Then, Nearpeer’s matching algorithm will connect you to other students with similar interests, academic passions, and backgrounds.

  • Once you’re logged in, click the My Groups tab at the bottom of your screen
  • Click the plus sign at the bottom right and scroll through all available groups
  • When you find one you’d like to be in, click Join

Message a Group

You can chat with a group’s members as soon as you’ve joined it!

  • From your list of groups, click on the one you’d like to message
  • Use the Chat button at the top right to open the group chat and send your message
  • You can tag others in a group chat with the ‘@’ symbol

Send a Direct Message

To send a DM, first click on the student, parent, or staff member’s profile you want to message and then on the red Connect button you’ll see at the top. From there, you can directly message that person. To see all your DMs, click on the Messaging tab at the bottom of your app.
