The Global Gateway Program

Suffolk University is all about global education. Our Global Gateway Program brings the world to you in Boston, and you out into the world.

The Global Gateway Program provides an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the important history, art, and food of Northern Greece. The program allows a globally focused cohort of first-year students to experience another culture at a fraction of the cost.

Program Details

For Spring 2025 Global Gateway will be heading to Thessaloniki, Greece, from March 8 - March 15, 2025.

Any first-year student is welcome to apply for the Global Gateway Program. The program is open to students of all majors in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Sawyer Business School. Please note, that transfer students with more than 30 transfer credits will not be considered for the program.

The Global Gateway program fee is $695 and includes roundtrip airfare, in-country ground transportation, a shared hotel room, most meals, guided visits, entrance fees, and travel insurance.

Suffolk has partnered with American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) to provide on-the-ground support for the program. Students will visit Thessaloniki, Vergina, Meteora, Dion, and Mt. Olympus and participate in a wide variety of activities, including museum visits, hiking, cultural meals, archeological sites, a cooking class, and more.

Application Process

Students will complete an online application where they can express why they are a good match for this program. The application deadline is Friday, November 1, 2024. Following the submission of their application, eligible students will be invited to an in-person interview. Students will be notified of their acceptance into the program by the end of December 2024.

There will be a series of mandatory group meetings before and after the trip dates to inform students of expectations, introduce students to Greek culture, and outline trip goals.
