Honors Societies

There are several honors societies open to qualifying students in various areas of interest, from marketing to finance. Learn about joining one.

Beta Alpha Psi

This honor society recognizes outstanding academic achievements in the field of accounting, promotes the study and practice of accounting, and provides leadership and social/networking opportunities for members and practicing accountants. Beta Alpha Psi is very active during the academic year.

Beta Gamma Sigma

The Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society honors the top business undergraduate and graduate students. The Mission of the International Honor Society is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business through chapters in business programs accredited by AACSB International, to cultivate and celebrate leadership and professional excellence, and to advance the values of the Society, which are honor and integrity, pursuit of wisdom, earnestness, and service. To be eligible for membership, a student must rank in the upper 20% of their master’s program or rank in the upper 10% of their undergraduate class. Students are elected to membership and publicly recognized during the spring semester.

Financial Management Association National Honor Society

The Financial Management Association rewards scholarship and achievements of undergraduate finance majors through its National Honor Society. Undergraduate finance majors must have earned 61 credit hours, achieved an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher, and completed at least three designated finance courses. Selection for this Honor Society takes place during the first month of the fall and spring semesters each year.

Alpha Mu Alpha

The American Marketing Association awards the Alpha Mu Alpha National Marketing Honor to students majoring in Marketing who have achieved a grade point average in the top 10 percent of all Senior marketing students.

Alpha Delta Sigma

The Alpha Delta Sigma national honor society recognizes scholastic achievement in marketing and advertising studies. To qualify, students must have completed ninety semester hours of coursework, rank in the upper 10 percent of Marketing majors, achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.1 and have completed or be currently enrolled in a minimum of two marketing courses (one of which must be related to advertising). Students must also be a national member of the American Advertising Federation.

Sigma Nu Tau

Celebrate your achievements and join Sigma Nu Tau, the only entrepreneurial-based academic honors society. Eligible undergraduate students must have a major in Entrepreneurship and a minimum GPA of 3.4 after completing at least 72 credits.

Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities

Students nominated to Who's Who are selected in their senior year on the basis of scholastic and community achievements, scholarship ability, participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, citizenship and service to Suffolk University, and potential for further achievement. Both full- and part-time students are eligible for consideration. This honor is conferred by more than 1,000 schools in the United States.
