Parking

It can be tricky to park in downtown Boston, so we encourage all employees to use public transportation whenever possible. You've got options, though, if you're commuting by car.

We've put together this handy FAQ for more information about Suffolk University employee parking.

Suffolk employees are being encouraged to work remotely during these temporary work conditions. For those employees who still need to come to the Boston campus to do their jobs, we have implemented a subsidized parking/Uber/Lyft policy effective August 17, 2020. Suffolk University will reimburse employees up to $10 per day to either park within walking distance of the campus or take a Lyft or Uber to get to work.

Employees should discuss their work arrangements with their manager to receive prior approval.

Parking garages near the campus include, but are not limited to:

  • Boston Common, entrance on Charles Street between the parks
  • LAZ 73 Tremont, behind the building enter on Beacon Street across from One Beacon
  • Millennium Parking, 47 Boylston Street

Employees may be able to get a discounted rate: check with the garage that you use. Please note that a Suffolk corporate credit card may not be used to pay for parking.

To receive reimbursement, employees should complete a check request form, scan and take photos of parking receipts and send both the completed form and receipts by email to their manager for approval. The manager should print and sign or send approval by email here. The subject line should read Temporary Parking Reimbursement. Human Resources will send reimbursements to the Payroll Office to be processed in the next available pay cycle.

Note:

  • Employees will be taxed on monthly parking benefits exceeding $270 per IRS regulations.
  • Some garages do not print receipts. Instead a copy of the credit card statement showing the daily charges may be used - cover up or remove other, unrelated charges from your credit card statement before submitting it to your manager.

The University maintains two parking garages: one in Sargent Hall at 120 Tremont Street, and one in the Rosalie K. Stahl Center at 73 Tremont Street.

The Sargent Hall garage is a self-parking facility that’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Spaces in Sargent Hall are allocated to Law School employees first and then to other employees. Contact Michelle Archer at 617-573-8170 or marcher@suffolk.edu to see if any space is available.

The Stahl Center garage is an attended facility that’s open Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–8 p.m; Saturday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m.–2 p.m. The entrance to the Rosalie K. Stahl Building garage is at the back of the building, on Tremont Place. Enter on Beacon Street across from One Beacon. Parking is valet only. Vehicles in the Stahl Center garage at closing time are placed outside on Tremont Place. Keys for cars parked on Tremont Place may be picked up at the security desk in the lobby of the Stahl Center. Parking spaces are open to all employees and allocated through an annual parking contract.

Parking spaces are rented to employees on an annual basis (July 1–June 30) for a monthly fee. The monthly fee for the year beginning July 1, 2019, is $397 for both locations. The monthly fee is set by the University annually before July 1 and is deducted from employees’ paychecks. A portion of the fee is pre-tax. Employees must maintain the parking contract for the entire year. Annual rental contracts for parking spaces for motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, and similar motorized vehicles are available in Sargent Hall for $92.50 a month.

Each spring, there is an annual enrollment period for available spaces in both garages. If there are more requests for spaces than spaces available, parking contracts are issued on a seniority basis. Those who request but do not receive a space are placed on a waiting list for the next available one. Employees with handicapped license placards will be given priority for an annual parking contract in the Stahl Center garage during the normal enrollment period.

Contact the Construction and Facilities Services office at 617-573-8606 or DCFS@suffolk.edu to see if any space is available in either garage or for more information.

We offer parking spaces for employees who need an accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act As Amended (ADAAA). These parking spots are available at a slightly discounted daily rate. Please contact Human Resources at humanresources@suffolk.edu or by phone at 617-573-8415.

Employees who need to park at the University because of unusual job requirements on a specific day (e.g., off-campus meetings, late events, etc.) may be able to park on campus free of charge for that day.

Suffolk maintains four parking spaces in the Rosalie K. Stahl Building (73 Tremont) and three spaces in Sargent Hall (120 Tremont).

These spaces are available on a "first-asked, first-committed" basis and are free but must be reserved in advance, without exception. Make your request MORE THAN 48 HOURS before you need a space. Requests submitted less than 48 hours in advance may not receive a response.
