Biography

James Matthews is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law and the Faculty Director of Suffolk Law School’s award-winning Accelerator-to-Practice Program (A2P). Professor Matthews manages the Accelerator Practice, A2P’s capstone clinical component, where he supervises students in fee-shifting cases including housing discrimination, landlord-tenant, and other consumer protection matters related to housing.

Professor Matthews also has significant teaching and professional presenting experience. In addition to co-teaching the year-long Accelerator Practice seminar, he has taught a landlord-tenant course he developed, Massachusetts Housing Law Drafting and Advocacy, as well as Negotiation. Professor Matthews also helps conduct fair housing and know your rights trainings as part of the Housing Discrimination Testing Program’s (HDTP) community education and outreach. He has also presented at numerous national and local conferences including the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) Clinical Conference.
