Biography

Professor Mellen applies 15 years of professional experience in selling in the global market research and consulting industry to the classroom at the Sawyer Business School. She has extensive business experience as the Vice President for Strategic Accounts at both consumer insights firm Iconoculture (now Gartner Group) and technology research firm The Yankee Group (now S&P Global). In these roles, she partnered with senior stakeholders to drive business results demonstrated through the achievement of over $20 million in revenue during her tenure. Some of the key accounts she was responsible for included American Express, AT&T, Bic, Dannon, Fidelity Investments, Hasbro, MasterCard, MFS Investments, Ocean Spray, PepsiCo, Pfizer, P&G, and Verizon.

Since 2014, Professor Mellen has been teaching, advising, and developing curriculum in higher education. Her focus is helping business students communicate effectively in the workplace, develop their professional selling skills, and differentiate themselves in their career search. Using adult learning and experiential learning theories, she provides students opportunities to apply business skills learned in the classroom to "real world" work environments. In particular, her Business Writing courses collaborate with Research Methods classes on market research projects for companies such as EveryBodyFights, GrubHub, Mass General Hospital, Pandora, SiriusXM, and Sonos.
