What values and characteristics shape the American identity? In the American Studies minor, you'll examine U.S. culture--past and present.
The American Studies minor draws on insights and methods from the arts, history, literature, and the social sciences. You’ll study with faculty from each of these disciplines as you explore both historical and contemporary U.S. identities, cultures, and societies.
All students take an introductory course, Defining America and Americans, and then choose a focus area. Focuses areas range from eras, themes, regions, or populations to problems in American culture. Your minor advisor will help you choose a focus area that suits your unique interests.
