Unemployment Claims Fraud

There has been an increase in fraud targeting state unemployment insurance programs, including here in Massachusetts. There have been instances of employees receiving letters via the U.S. Postal Service from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance indicating that they filed a Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claim. If you receive this letter, it is possible that your Social Security number and other information may have been compromised.

Recommended steps if you received a suspicious letter:

  1. Notify the Unemployment Insurance Fraud Unit. This will also create a police report which will be filed with the Massachusetts State Police.
  2. Contact Human Resources to let us know that you have received a letter.

Please contact your Human Resources Partner with any questions.
