Graduate Certificate in Tax Audit Defense

As of September 2021, the MST program is no longer recruiting new students or accepting applications. Those interested in participating in the Graduate Certificate in Tax Audit Defense will be eligible to apply completed courses as part of this certificate to a future MSA.

The Princeton Review: Best Business Schools, 2022This program is designed for current practitioners, including CPAs and enrolled agents, who want to diversify their business by offering audit services.

The Graduate Certificate in Tax Audit Defense is grounded in individual income tax practice, including the taxation of property transactions, and proceeding to the laws governing practice before the IRS. The program also explores how the IRS is organized and administrated. Tax deficiencies, assessments, claims for refunds, statutes of limitation, and the appeal process are covered; as are criminal tax investigations and the legal, evidentiary, and procedural challenges presented in criminal tax cases.

This certificate program is designed to be completed part-time in one semester on campus. You can continue to build on your tax knowledge by stacking the Graduate Certificate in Tax Audit Defense with our Graduate Certificates in Corporate Taxation, Fundamentals of Taxation, or Taxation of Wealth.

If you apply to the MS in Accounting (MSA) degree program or another eligible graduate business degree program, you may be able to apply the courses in this certificate program to reduce the time it will take to complete your master’s degree.
