Undergraduate: Next Steps for Financial Aid
- If you haven’t already, reserve your spot in the incoming class by submitting your enrollment deposit.
- Start planning for next year. Now that you know your financial aid award, it’s a great time to begin thinking about the payment option(s) that might work best. Your financial aid counselor can help you if you have any questions.
- Apply for outside scholarships. Your high school guidance office will have more information. If you receive an outside scholarship, be sure to tell the Office of Student Financial Services.
- If you plan to borrow the loan(s) offered to you, you must complete both entrance counseling and the master promissory note (MPN) for any Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans. All paperwork needs to be completed before these funds can be applied to your tuition account. To log in, make sure you have the FSA ID you created when you filed your FAFSA. If your parent is borrowing a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan, he/she will also need to complete the MPN.
- If you’ve been offered student employment, watch for information about on-campus positions in August. You’ll also get details on the paperwork you need to complete before you start working, including direct deposit and income tax withholding forms.
- You might receive your financial aid award before Student Financial Services has all of your necessary documents. This office will email you if you need to send additional information. Provide all requested documents promptly to avoid delays in applying your funds to your tuition account.
- Once you graduate from high school, submit a copy of your final high school transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admission as soon as possible. This is required for federal financial aid programs.
