Research Interests
- My research interests lie in industrial organization, applied microeconomic theory, and competition analysis of cultural industries, with a focus on the movie industry. My work has examined the impact of digitization on the movie exhibition market, spatial competition in theatre location choice, product differentiation in film exhibition, and contract design between creative talent and studios. I have served as a referee for journals including RAND Journal of Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, and Journal of Media Economics; as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation; and as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Cultural Economics.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that teaching is most effective, and learning is most meaningful, when course content is connected to students’ personal interests and passions. Learning by doing is a hallmark of my approach to teaching, with in-class exercises and assignments designed to support active, engaged mastery. I respect and value each of my students and aim to bring my own passion for economics directly to the classroom experience.
