About Margaret Wells
Maggie has built her business development and sales career on the cutting edge of technology and has been launching products and companies and managing turnarounds for over 15 years. As CEO of HomePortfolio is tasked with achieving profitability and raising capital to build valuation and position the company for IPO or acquisition. Prior to joining HomePortfolio, she was General Manager of IndyPress Newsstand Services, a national distributor of independent magazines, which she successfully restructured. Prior to IndyPress, she was Chief Operating Officer for Kit Cole Investment Advisory Services responsible for growing the organization to four sales offices in a two-year span. Prior to Kit Cole, Maggie was co-founder and General Manager of Women's Financial Network, the first comprehensive financial services Web site designed and operated by and for women. WFN was sold to Siebert Financial in 2000. Prior to launching WFN, Maggie was Director of Business Development for Disney's Go Network and was personally responsible for over $100 million in strategic partnerships. She successfully launched the magazines, Network Computing in 1990 and Interactive Week in 1994, and achieved $10 million in career advertising sales. She launched CMP Media's Internet strategy in 1994 with a site that evolved into today's TechWeb. She is the author of "Web Site Essentials for Success," which ZDPress purchased in 1995. Maggie graduated with distinction from the University of Rochester with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and received her MBA from the University of Chicago with concentrations in Finance, Marketing and Economics. She has served on the Connecticut Governor's Commission on the Status of Women, the Board of Director's of the Three Arts Club of Chicago and Big Sisters of Los Angeles. She is a sponsor with Women for Women International, a mentor with Upwardly Global and serves on the Advisory Board for Canopy, a corporation for wildlife stewardship. She is a member of The Boston Club and adjunct professor of marketing at Boston College and Suffolk University.Employment History
