Biography

Professor Dai’s research concentrates on law and society, with particular emphasis on social justice, human rights, and the rights of women and children. Her work examines the intersections of law, power, exploitation, and justice, especially as they pertain to gender equality and the protection of vulnerable groups. Through her scholarship, she aims to empower those whose voices are often marginalized.

Her recent article, "Hitting the Brakes on Child Trafficking: An Analysis of Anti-Trafficking Legislation in Viet Nam," was published in the William & Mary Journal of Race, Gender, and Social Justice. In this article, Professor Dai conducts a comprehensive analysis of Viet Nam’s anti-trafficking legal framework, focusing on the effectiveness of statutory protections for children and the practical challenges faced in implementation. Drawing on statutory interpretation, legislative history, and interviews with practitioners and advocates, her work identifies existing legal gaps, highlights issues of enforcement and cross-border cooperation, and proposes targeted legislative and policy reforms. The article makes a significant contribution to comparative anti-trafficking scholarship and provides actionable guidance for policymakers and advocates working to prevent child exploitation in Southeast Asia.

Before joining the Suffolk Law faculty, Professor Dai taught at Delaware Law School, Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Duquesne University, St. Thomas University School of Law, McNeese State University, Northern Arizona University, and Arizona State University. With a strong commitment to diversity and service, she has actively participated in the Southeast-Southwest People of Color Legal Scholarship Conference and co-chaired the Law Student Writing Competition. he has been recognized for her commitment to teaching and mentorship, including her selection as a Fellow in the Preparing Future Faculty Program and a nomination for Northern Arizona University’s Teacher of the Year Award by faculty, staff, and students alike.

Born in Viet Nam and raised in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, Professor Dai's academic credentials include a Ph.D. from Arizona State University, a certificate in International Humanitarian Law, an LL.M. in Law and Government from American University, a concentration certificate in Civil and Constitutional Rights, a specialization certificate in Gender and the Law, a J.D. from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, an M.P.A. from Hamline University, and a B.A. from Metropolitan State University.
