Honors Curricula in SBS

The University Honors Program challenges you to develop the knowledge and skills to become an effective leader in a global environment. Your classes will take a practical hands-on approach. You'll interact with business leaders, ranging from entrepreneurs to CEOs of multinational corporations. And you'll help local businesses and nonprofits solve real-world problems, gaining valuable, resume-building experience along the way.

Honors curricula include honors sections of required courses in the business core and many general education requirements. These and other honors courses help you customize your academic experience. The Marketing major can be completed at the honors level.

  • Honors electives within most business majors
  • Special topics courses
  • Honors tracks within marketing major
  • Challenge Courses

Challenge Courses

Take one- or two-credit seminar-style courses called Honors Challenge Courses to enhance your degree, study an area of personal interest, or gain skills for your future career path. As an honors student, you’re required to take at least three credits of Challenge Courses.

Honors Contracts

Work with a faculty mentor to design a unique project to take any class to the honors level.

Joining the Honors Program

Requirements

To be admitted to the Honors Program, the Office of Undergraduate Admission and Honors Program Committee will consider your class rank (when applicable), GPA, standardized test scores, personal essay, the quality of your secondary school curriculum, and any other relevant information. Once enrolled, at least 25% of your curriculum must include honors courses and at least three credits of Challenge Courses while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

Rising Sophomore Application

If you don’t join the program as a freshman, you’ll be eligible to join the program after the completion of two full-time semesters and the attainment of a minimum 3.5 GPA.

If you join the Honors Program as a transfer student, you'll experience all the same benefits.

Once enrolled, at least 25% of your curriculum must include honors courses and at least three credits of Challenge Courses while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

More than 45 Credits

If you’re transferring with more than 45 credits, you may be eligible to join the University Honors Program. The Office of Undergraduate Admission and the Honors Program Committee will review your application on a case-by-case basis, taking into account your college or university GPA, personal essay, the quality of your college courses, and any other relevant information.
