The fields of mental health, human services, and criminal justice are becoming increasingly interdependent. Our dual-degree program seeks to bridge the existing gaps between these sectors to ensure you have a solid foundation in each area.
Your criminal justice courses will allow you to explore the causes, contexts, and policies that can lead to or exacerbate mental illness. In your counseling courses, you'll learn to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals and groups with various mental health issues.
This dual-degree program will help you quality for Massachusetts licensure. You’ll complete the mental health curriculum full-time, and may pursue the criminal justice curriculum full- or part-time.
Note: Graduate students who began the program before Fall 2026 will graduate with a Master of Science in Crime & Justice Studies, while students enrolling Fall 2026 or later will pursue a Master of Science in Criminal Justice.
