Michael & Larry Smith Fitness Center

Suffolk students, faculty, and staff head to The Michael & Larry Smith Fitness Center in pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. The fitness center is named for alumni Michael S. Smith '61 and Larry E. Smith '65 in recognition of their leadership philanthropy on behalf of the University.

Inside this 5,800-square-foot space, you’ll find state-of-the-art treadmills, circuit training equipment, and elliptical trainers. Choose from 180+ workout options at the Fitness on Demand kiosk and follow along on a wide-screen TV. The center is stocked with all the yoga mats, kettlebells, medicine balls, and other equipment you’ll need.

Open to the entire Suffolk University community, the fitness center also offers four changing rooms, showers, and restrooms.

The Michael & Larry Smith Fitness Center will open at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, for the 2020 Fall semester.

COVID-19 Rules & Regulations

  • Users required to maintain six-feet social distancing
  • Users required to wear a mask at all times
  • Users are required to wipe down equipment before and after use
  • Reduced capacity - 16 (15 users & 1 staff member)
    • 5 Free Weights/Machines; 4 Treadmills, 3 Bikes, 2 Ellipticals, 1 Stairstepper
  • Bathrooms are accessible no shower room access
  • Online reservation required for entry

Reservations

  • Reservations can be made online
  • Reservations cannot be made less than 12 hours before workout time
  • Reservations cannot be made more than one week before workout time
  • Max reservations - 2 blocks (one hour) per day per individual

How To Make a Reservation to the Michael & Larry Smith Fitness Center [PDF]

Reservation Steps

  • Step 1: Go to reserve now.
  • Step 2: Click "book a seat/space".
  • Step 3: Click "location" drop down menu; select "fitness center." Click "show availability" to access booking schedule.
  • Step 4: Use "go to date" to find desired date. Select date.
  • Step 5: Select preferred machinery and time block(s) in green. Red blocks cannot be booked.
  • Step 6: Click "submit times" below booking schedule.
  • Step 7: Fill out book details form - full name, email, student (staff) id # and phone number. Click "submit my book".
  • Step 8: Receive email confirmation of booking.
