Mental Health at Suffolk

Suffolk staff and faculty work collaboratively to support the mental health needs of our students and foster overall well-being on campus.

Suffolk University cares about student mental health. In 2022, Suffolk began a the 4-year process to become a recognized JED Campus. This work is supported by 2 campus-wide groups which work collaboratively to assess student needs and respond with program enhancements. The goals of this work are to implement strategic priorities focused on suicide prevention, mental health awareness and referral skills for faculty, staff, and students, and building upon Suffolk’s long-standing culture of care.

Students looking for mental health support at Suffolk can learn more on our Counseling, Health & Wellness page.

In the fall 2022 semester, students completed the Healthy Minds Study to inform our work. The results of that assessment are being used to help our campus prioritize mental health, well-being, and suicide prevention. Study Results [PDF]

Suffolk students are invited to participate through focus groups, programming opportunities, and campus events—for more information, email one of our Mental Health at Suffolk co-chairs: Peter FowlerAmanda McGrath, or Stephanie Kendall.
