New Student Convocation

Tuesday, September 3

  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Converse Hall, Tremont Temple
  • 88 Tremont Street, Boston
  • Wear your blue Class of 2023 T-Shirt

Taking its name from the Latin convocare (meaning “to call/come together”), Convocation is the final step of orientation and marks the start of your University career. At this gathering, faculty and senior administrators will welcome first-year and transfer students into the Suffolk community and formally open the academic year.

All first-year and transfer students are invited to the ceremony and expected to participate. The University also welcomes your family and friends to witness this distinguished academic tradition. We’ve planned an exciting day of celebrations. Please join us for a student community continental breakfast before Convocation. If you live on campus, you’ll eat in your residence hall. If you live off campus, you’ll eat in the Sawyer Lounge. After breakfast, you’ll be escorted to Converse Hall. (Family and friends should proceed directly to Converse Hall at 11:15 a.m. for the best views.) The fun continues after Convocation, when you, your family, and friends can relax at a special cookout on Roemer Plaza, just outside The newly designated Samia Academic Center. Make sure you wear your Class of 2023 t-shirt for the class picture!

Get ready to really be a Ram! And start learning the Suffolk University Alma Mater that we will be singing during Convocation. Watch a video of Rampage show choir singing the alma mater at graduation.
