Financial Aid & FAFSA Support

Students and families can connect with Federal Student Aid and Suffolk University’s Student Financial Services for questions regarding the FAFSA application.

In addition, these organizations provide free FAFSA support and can assist in completing the application for submission:

The Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (MEFA) offers FAFSA Days. FAFSA Days is a volunteer-driven program that provides free assistance to students and families to complete the FAFSA. Massachusetts financial aid professionals are available to answer questions and walk through the application process.

For FAFSA Day dates, visit MEFA’s website or send them an email.

Massachusetts Educational Opportunity Centers (MassEdCO) is the Commonwealth’s largest provider of community-based education and career readiness services for first-generation, economically challenged, and underrepresented and marginalized youth and adults in Massachusetts. MassEdCo offers a variety of services, including free FAFSA and financial aid assistance, scholarships, and application support.

To review locations and appointment availability, visit MassEdCO's website or send them an email.

uAspire provides support in accessing financial aid and navigating postsecondary systems through in-person and virtual advising, including FAFSA Walkthroughs.

FAFSA Walkthroughs are webinars that walk students and families through the entire FAFSA application by section, discuss financial aid timelines, and review the FAFSA Submission Summary.

For webinar dates and other resources, visit uAspire's website or email Michelle Murphy, Vice President of Business Development.

Student Financial Services has a list of federal and state grants as well as outside (private) scholarships.

Additional websites and resources for applying for scholarships:

Some cultural organizations offer scholarships as well. For example, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers aid to those who identify as Hispanic/Latino.

In addition, some labor unions offer scholarships to union members’ families. Union Plus and Massachusetts AFL-CIO have more information about scholarships offered and their application requirements.

*Regarding Fastweb.com: Though shared resources are from reputable organizations, it may be best to use some caution with Fastweb.
Fastweb has an abundance of scholarships, providing an array of opportunities to choose from, however, signing up for an account can occasionally lead to excess notifications. To avoid unhelpful notifications, you can review their articles that refer to outside scholarship resources without creating an account and go directly to the resources they reference.
The Medium article titled “Is Scholarship America Legit”, provides helpful insight on using websites like Fastweb and assessing their credibility.
