Transfer

Welcome to the Suffolk community! It's time to prepare for orientation and complete these next steps.

Pre-Orientation Advising & Course Registration

As a new student, you should take the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor in the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center prior to participating in orientation.

Appointments for Fall 2023 course selection will be available starting April 20, 2023.

Preparing for your Academic Advising Appointment

Access your MySuffolk account (Canvas, Self-Service and WebAdvisor)

MySuffolk is the University portal for students, faculty, and staff where you can access course registration (Self Service), the Canvas learning system, and other online tools.

You must have access to your MySuffolk account in order to register for classes and complete the Math Placement Exam. Your MySuffolk credentials have been emailed to you separately by Information Technology Services (ITS).

You'll need access to your account when you meet with an academic advisor. If you need assistance with your login information, please contact the ITS HelpDesk at 617-557-2000.

Math Placement Exam

All students at Suffolk are required to complete the math requirement. If you do not already have transfer credit for a required math course (please note: statistics does not satisfy Suffolk's general math requirement), you must complete the math placement exam to determine which math course is right for you.

We strongly encourage you to take the exam before orientation.

To access the exam

  • Log in to Canvas
  • In the 'My Courses' box, you should see a link to the Math Placement Exam
  • Read through the on-screen instructions
  • Begin the exam

Please note: It can take up to 3 business days after you complete the exam for the results to be posted on WebAdvisor.

Frequently asked questions about the MPE, including how to access your placement score can be found on the Math department page. If you have additional questions about the MPE, you can contact Ben Deissler. Please allow one to two business days for a response.

To Schedule an Appointment

We recommend scheduling an appointment to meet with an academic advisor from the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center (UAAC) prior to orientation. The advisor will assist you with selecting classes for your first semester at Suffolk and can answer any questions you have about your degree requirements. You can schedule an advising appointment by calling our office at 617-573-8034. See the e-mail from [email protected] with the subject "Next Steps" for more information.

Advisors will be available to meet with incoming transfer students via zoom beginning on 4/20/2023. Please make sure you have access to a laptop or desktop computer and to your Suffolk credentials at the time of your appointment. The advisor will also ask you to share your screen during the zoom meeting.

All appointments are scheduled based on Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), so please plan accordingly for any time difference.

Please call the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center at 617-573-8034 if you have any questions or if you need any assistance scheduling an advising appointment.

You will have the opportunity during orientation to meet with an academic advisor to review your schedule and make sure you are registered for the appropriate courses. However, you should make an appointment with the Undergraduate Academic Advising Office prior to orientation with the link provided in the email with the subject “Next Steps.”

All appointments are scheduled based on Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), so please plan accordingly for any time difference.

Please call the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center at 617-573-8034 if you have any questions.
