Honors Curricula in CAS

The University Honors Program challenges you to develop the knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills needed to make an impact in an increasingly interconnected world. Your classes will emphasize inquiry, analysis, and experiential learning across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Through research projects, civic engagement opportunities, and partnerships with local organizations and nonprofits, you'll apply your learning to real-world challenges while building valuable experience for graduate study and future careers.

Honors curricula include honors sections of many general education requirements and other courses, helping you to customize your academic experience.

Joining the Honors Program

Requirements

To be admitted to the Honors Program, the Office of Undergraduate Admission and Honors Program Committee will consider your class rank (when applicable), GPA, standardized test scores, personal essay, the quality of your secondary school curriculum, and any other relevant information. Once enrolled, at least 25% of your curriculum must include honors courses and at least three credits of Challenge Courses while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

Rising Sophomore Application

If you don’t join the program as a freshman, you’ll be eligible to join the program after the completion of two full-time semesters and the attainment of a minimum 3.5 GPA.

If you join the Honors Program as a transfer student, you'll experience all the same benefits.

Once enrolled, at least 25% of your curriculum must include honors courses and at least three credits of Challenge Courses while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.

More than 45 Credits

If you’re transferring with more than 45 credits, you may be eligible to join the University Honors Program. The Office of Undergraduate Admission and the Honors Program Committee will review your application on a case-by-case basis, taking into account your college or university GPA, personal essay, the quality of your college courses, and any other relevant information.
