CAS Honors Pathways

Welcome to our friendly community of scholars!

Get ready to pursue knowledge on a whole new level, while enjoying special opportunities to learn, bond with your fellow honors students, and present your research at national honors conference across the country.

Your academic journey begins with the Honors Community Scholars Program. In this track, you and your close-knit cohort will spend your first two years in the University Honors Program taking classes that will challenge you to think even more critically and apply your studies to the world around you.

At the end of your sophomore year, you can apply to our highly selective Honors in the Major Program. If selected, you’ll spend your third and fourth years further refining your academic focus, and developing a signature project you’ll share at our annual honors symposium. You’ll also take a specially designed senior capstone course that will further connect the dots between all that you’ve learned and all that you can do with your honors education after graduation to benefit our world.

Community

Hitting the books and having fun aren’t mutually exclusive. In the College of Arts & Sciences, they go hand in hand! If you live in Suffolk’s Honors Living Learning Community (LLC), you won’t even have to leave your residence hall to get to know your peers. Plus, you can attend incredible LLC events throughout the year. No matter where you live, you can join the College honors community at special service projects and on fun field trips that will broaden your horizons outside of class.

The Boston Harbor Islands are critical to protecting the city’s shoreline, says Meredith Melia, BS’24, because they absorb a great deal of force from storms and waves. Melia, who was an environmental studies major and CAS Honors student during her time at Suffolk, was invited to present her research at the 2024 international Ocean Science Meeting in New Orleans.
