Membership

To be eligible for membership, a student must have exactly two years of legal study remaining at the law school.  Thus, day students entering their second year and evening students entering their third year are eligible to compete for membership.  First year evening students transferring into the day program are also eligible for membership.

Selection

Selection by MCHB is extremely competitive.  The top-ranked student in each of the first-year day and second-year evening class section will receive an automatic invitation to join MCHB.  All other students must compete in the Write-On Competition.  Additionally, every applicant will be interviewed by the staff of the MCHB as part of the competition process.

Although each competition piece will be reviewed by MCHB, preference will be given to:

  • Students in the Top 25% of each class section
  • The winner of the Best Brief and Best Oral Advocate from each LPS section.
