Faculty and staff members have an enormous impact on the student experience at Suffolk. They play a primary role in creating an inclusive and equitable campus community by supporting and advising students according to their unique needs. To be effective guides, mentors, and advisors, it is crucial that faculty and staff members alike are mindful of their students’ identities and lived experiences. Equally important is their ability to collaborate with each other in a workplace that is supportive, open, respectful, and equitable for all employees.

Unemployment Claims Fraud

There has been an increase in fraud targeting state unemployment insurance programs, including here in Massachusetts. There have been instances of employees receiving letters via the U.S. Postal Service from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance indicating that they filed a Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claim. If you receive this letter, it is possible that your Social Security number and other information may have been compromised.

Recommended steps if you received a suspicious letter:

  1. Notify the Unemployment Insurance Fraud Unit. This will also create a police report which will be filed with the Massachusetts State Police.
  2. Contact Human Resources to let us know that you have received a letter.

Please contact your Human Resources Partner with any questions.
