SEED 101 Living-Learning Community

Your professional launch pad

Build your professional skillset and on-campus community starting day one. This exciting new community provides students with an academic and residential experience centered on personal growth, community, and professional development.

Through exclusive weekly programming hosted by faculty, industry professionals, and Suffolk alumni, you’ll build strong relationships with fellow residents and mentors while exploring potential career paths and developing your professional identity. Best of all, you won’t have to leave your residence hall to do so—Suffolk’s newest residence hall, 101 Tremont, will be your homebase throughout the year.

Your On-Ramp to SEED

SEED 101 makes a great start to your Suffolk career, but it can also be the first step in a larger journey. Students who successfully participate in SEED 101 can apply to continue into PRESEED and eventually become SEED Scholars, joining a consulting clinic working with real clients throughout Boston.

Frequently Asked Questions

Participation will be limited to students living in the residence hall. Commuter and off-campus students will continue to have access to the traditional PRESEED pathway sophomore year.

Students will receive 1 credit per semester for participation in SEED 101. Participants will receive letter grades for the curricular components of the Living-Learning Community, and they will be holistically evaluated on their engagement in co-curricular activities.

Students who complete SEED 101 with a grade of B+ or higher in both the fall and spring semesters and demonstrate active engagement in the program’s co-curricular workshops and experiences will automatically be eligible to transition directly into PRESEED. This means they will not need to complete the traditional PRESEED application and interview process and may move directly into the next phase of the program. Students who do not earn a B+ or higher in either semester may still apply to PRESEED through the regular application process.

Students entering Suffolk with fewer than 24 total transferable credits may be eligible to participate in SEED 101, given the program's emphasis on first-year academic, personal, and professional development.

First-year students entering with advanced credits are eligible to participate in SEED 101.

SEED 101 will be located in our 101 Tremont Street residence hall.

Students who submit their enrollment and housing deposit by May 1 will receive priority consideration for placement in SEED 101. Because space is limited, depositing by the deadline is strongly encouraged.

Students who have submitted their enrollment and housing deposit can indicate their interest in SEED 101 when completing the housing application, which opens in late May.

To be eligible, students must also agree to participate in all required curricular and co-curricular components of the program. Placement is limited and subject to space availability.

Students who express interest in SEED 101 through the housing application will receive information about next steps and, if eligible, will be able to select a space in the community when the housing selection process opens in late June. Students should be sure to meet all housing deadlines and requirements established by Residence Life & Housing Services.

Yes. Students who choose to live in the SEED 101 community are expected to actively participate in all required program components, including both academic and co-curricular experiences. Continued participation is required to remain a member of the community.
