Jumpstart

Jumpstart places highly motivated college students in preschool classrooms in low-income communities to help children build language, literacy and social skills. With a focus on school success, family involvement, and future teachers; Jumpstart helps create an environment of lifelong learning.

As a Jumpstart volunteer, you’ll work 2–3 hours per week (with the option for more) in a local preschool classroom, supporting children (ages 3–5) through play-based learning, small group activities, and story time. Using a proven, curriculum-based approach developed by Jumpstart over the past 30 years, you’ll help preschoolers build the language, literacy, and life skills essential for success in kindergarten and beyond. Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience, develop leadership and communication skills, and make a lasting impact in your community. Many students may also qualify for Federal Work-Study pay.
